Role Description

Reporting to a Facilities Supervisor and working as part of a team, this role is responsible for cleaning an area within a venue. To undertake the removal, cleaning and replacement of radiator covers and electrical fittings as part of a “Thorough Cleaning Team”. This will also include unsupervised thorough cleans of inpatient sites as part of the Thorough Cleaning Programme. This work will be undertaken at NHS properties throughout the Non Acute Hospitals of Leicestershire & Rutland. This will include premises and areas where patients have mental health or special needs and behavioral problems and therefore the post holder will be required to have an understanding of their needs. Candidate must have valid driving license as may be required to drive to alternative sites around Leicester. Based at Glenfield Hospital.

 

Key Responsibilities & Core Dimensions

 

Ø  Working as part of a close team to provide an efficient Mobile Deep Cleaning service.

Ø  To clean to prescribed work schedules and rotas for designated areas, as specified.

Ø  To adhere to written procedures for check cleaning, damp dusting, damp mopping, full cleaning, periodic cleaning, spray cleaning and steam cleaning.

Ø  To wear as appropriate and be responsible for a personal alarm throughout each shift, on specific Leicester Partnership NHS sites. To sign on receipt and return of the alarm and to follow the daily test procedure.

Ø  To adhere to the Trust colour coding system to prevent contamination.

Ø  To use cleaning equipment within designated areas in accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Ø  To ensure the correct economical use of materials and equipment, seeking advice from the Senior Supervisor when in doubt.

Ø  To handle waste (including clinical and infected) in compliance with Trust policies and procedures.

Ø  To ensure the safe storage of all equipment and materials.

Ø  To report to the site Zone Coordinator any mechanical defects, any equipment in need of repair and any mishaps or untoward incidents.

Ø  To attend mandatory and relevant training sessions including breakaway and Personal safety.

Ø  To work towards obtaining the NVQ Cleaning and Support Services Level 2.

Ø  To receive appropriate training for the cleaning of body fluid spillages in non-patient areas and implement as required, Following the Infection Control Policy.

Ø  To adhere to all Trust and Departmental Policies.

Ø  To observe confidentiality of Patients and employing Trust’s business at all times.

Ø  To undertake other duties, as and when required, within the Domestic Department provided appropriate training has been undertaken.

Ø  To adhere to safe working practices.

Ø  To carry out duties in compliance with manual handling regulations.

Ø  To work strictly within agreed levels of competency.

Ø  Other duties that may arise and be discussed with the immediate Supervisor.

Ø  To assist contractors as and when required.

Ø  To utilise all relevant tools and equipment adequately and in a safe manner.

Ø  To advise/instruct and pass on knowledge to other staff on all aspects of his/her work and other disciplines as appropriate.

Ø  To enter all relevant information on work logs / time sheets etc. to assist with the collection of data.

Ø  To be prepared to move base within UHL facilitate the needs of the service

Ø  Ensure that all working practices conform to Health & Safety Legislation and the policies of the Trust.

Ø  To undertake any specific duties within the capabilities of the post holder this may from time to time be delegated.

Ø  To be able to work at heights and in confined spaces to ensure effective cleaning.

Ø  To hold a current driving licence and to drive Trust transport as required in order to carry out duties.

Ø  Communicate all suspicious behavior and potential security risks to your area supervisor as soon as possible

Ø  Safe work practices are followed as per Company Policies.

Ø  Effective communication is maintained with the Supervisor and the client.

Ø  Carry out and attend any training, appraisals and development programs as per direction from the Supervisor.

Ø  All staff are guest focused and have intimate knowledge of facilities and services.

Ø  Adhere to the site regulations for safety

Ø  Adhere to the Code of conduct at all times

Ø  All dress and behavior codes are followed, understood and adhered to.

Ø  All company policies are followed.

Ø  Reporting on time to all rostered shifts.

Ø  Preparedness to work flexible hours.

Ø  Inform your Supervisor of work availability.

Ø  Fill in daily cleaning check sheets

Ø  In order to satisfy the above, it is preferable  to speak and understand basic communication in English
